1The team entered a single event over the weekend as they traveled to Highland Speedway (Highland, Illinois) on Saturday night for a Weekly Racing Series Event with their UMP Pro Late Model and UMP Super Late Model.

In UMP Pro Late Model action, with sixteen competitors registered for battle, Rick began his night by winning his heat race from the pole position to earn the outside-front-row starting spot for the feature. As the main event went green he bolted to the lead and never looked back on his way to leading every lap to claim the win, which was his second of the 2012 season! He was followed across the finish line by Bobby Dauderman, Jordon Bauer, Mark Oller, and Billy Knebel Jr.

The UMP Super Late Model division saw nineteen cars entered into the event, and in his heat race Salter advanced from the fourth starting spot to a second place finish to lock into the pole-sitter's dash. In the dash he charged to the win to earn the pole for the feature event. Rick jumped to the lead at the start of the feature and paced the event until lap 22, when lapped traffic caused him to check up, which allowed Chad Zobrist and Frankie Martin to slip past. Salter would go on to finish in the third position.

After rain plaguing the team for the last three events, Salty Dog Racing was finally able to resume the 2012 campaign on Saturday night at Highland Speedway (Highland, Illinois), and it would prove to be a great night as Rick came away with his first victory of the season!

The night found him pulling double duty in his UMP Super Late Model as well as his UMP Pro Crate Late Model, which he was debuting for the first time in 2012. Twenty-six, UMP Pro Crate Late Models entered the event, and Rick started fourth in his heat race before advancing to a second place finish to lock into the fifth starting spot for the main event. During the first half of the race he would climb to the third spot, and a late-race caution set up a green, white, checkered dash. Salter would jump to the cushion as the green flag waved for the final time and would ride the high line to the lead and the win!

In the Super Late Model division, twenty cars were on hand, and after finishing third in his heat race Salter started sixth in the main event. Early in the feature he would get spun by another competitor and was forced to join the tail of the field. He rebounded to a seventh place finish in the closing laps.
